SUMMARY:Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn
LOCATION:The GRAND\, 608 1 St SW\, Calgary
DESCRIPTION:18A Evil Dead II Presented by The GRAND In Association with Alb
erta Theatre Projects18A as per Alberta Viewer Rating GuidelinesEvil Dead
II: Dead by Dawn is horror canon.Sam Raimi’s 1987 sequel takes everythin
g that made the original Evil Dead so strange and terrifying and turns the
dial all the way up: one isolated cabin\, one very bad night\, a possesse
 d girlfriend\, a chainsaw\, an infamous shotgun\, a room full of things th
at probably shouldn’t be moving — and Bruce Campbell giving one of the
great physical performances in horror.Part horror film\, part slapstick c
omedy and completely its own thing\, Evil Dead II is the kind of movie tha
t built a cult following because people kept coming back to it. It’s inv
entive\, ridiculous\, genuinely creepy and packed with the kind of practic
al effects and manic energy that are even better when you’re watching it
with a room full of people who know exactly what’s coming. If you’re s
eeing Alberta Theatre Projects’ Evil Dead The Musical this season\, this
is a pretty great excuse to keep the night going. ATP’s production runs
October 13 to November 14\, bringing the Evil Dead story to the stage wit
h music\, comedy\, gore and plenty of theatrical chaos. See the musical\,
see the movie\, or do both.At The GRAND on Mon Oct 26 from 5:30PM\, the ba
r will be open\, so come early for a drink and settle in before the film s
tarts at 7PM. And if you’ve seen Evil Dead II a dozen times already\, al
l the better: our Meyer sound system will give you a chance to hear the fi
lm in a way you probably haven’t before\, from the score and sound effec
ts to all the little details buried in Raimi’s wonderfully chaotic sound
track.Chainsaw. Boomstick. Deadites. Bruce Campbell. What more do you need
 ?
