SUMMARY:Kinusaiga workshop
LOCATION:Sammie Cafe\, 2205 33 Ave SW\, Calgary
DESCRIPTION:Discover the beauty of Kinsusaiga in a warm\, welcoming class d
esigned to bring our arts community together. This traditional Japanese fa
bric art form—often called “paintings made from cloth”—uses carefu
lly placed textiles to create stunning\, textured designs without sewing.
Guided step by step\, you’ll learn the basics of this unique technique w
hile sharing creativity\, conversation\, and inspiration with fellow art l
overs. Whether you’re new to fiber arts or looking to try something diff
erent\, this class is a wonderful way to connect\, create\, and celebrate
the joy of making art together. Kinusaiga\, or Japanese "silk painting\,"
is created by tucking fabric scraps into pre cut grooves in wood or foam b
oard. Often called "no-sew quilting\," this technique allows artists to cr
eate\, mosaic-like images without sewing or glue. In this class we will be
making a beginners piece. But you can get as fancy dancy as you would lik
 e. All materials are included so just bring your creative mind. The piece
that we will be working on will be a set size and will sit in a standard s
hadow box frame. While you craft\, enjoy delicious café bites\, curated c
ocktails\, and cozy hot drinks to sip as you create. Snack boards can be p
urchased with your tickets and cocktails will be available all night. Art
classes at Sammie's offers a vibrant and enriching environment where indiv
iduals can explore their creativity\, develop new skills\, and express the
mselves through various mediums. Whether you're a beginner or an experienc
ed artist\, these classes provide an opportunity to learn techniques in pa
inting\, drawing\, sculpture\, and multi re-usable mediums under the guida
nce of skilled instructors. Additionally\, they foster a sense of communit
y\, allowing people to share ideas\, collaborate on projects\, and gain in
spiration from their peers. If you’re interested in a class that’s not
listed or are an artist seeking a place to teach\, reach out to our coord
inator at negrecia@rogers.com with any ideas\, comments\, or questions. Fo
