SUMMARY:Lino Block Cutting
LOCATION:Sammie Cafe\, 2205 33 Ave SW\, Calgary
DESCRIPTION:Lino printing\, also called linocut or linoleum block printing\
, is a relief printmaking method where an image is carved into a linoleum
block\, inked\, and then pressed onto paper or fabric. It’s a favorite o
f mine for creating cards—I carve a beautiful block and use it to make p
ersonalized designs for special occasions. This Class can take anywhere up
to 1 1/2 hours up to 3 hours depending on how intricate you decide to get
. Doors will open at 5:30 and we will be printing until 9. So feel free to
join us when you can. Using specialized tools\, the non-printing areas ar
e cut away\, leaving the raised surfaces to hold the ink. This versatile a
nd rewarding art form blends creativity with technique\, offering a unique
way to produce stunning prints. With the right tools and a bit of practic
e\, anyone can dive into the world of Lino printing. Choose from a basic p
attern or create one in the moment. At the end of this class you will prin
t off a card\, some prints and also on canvas for a cute patch for yoursel
 f. All materials will be supplied so all you need to bring is your creativ
e mind. We’ll have plenty of nibblies and snacks\, along with a selectio
n of curated cocktails and local beers to enjoy. Snack boards can be purch
ased with your tickets\, and cocktails will be available all night. Doors
 Open at 5:30 At Sammie’s Cafe\, we’re creating a space for multimedia
artists to connect\, collaborate\, and share their skills in a vibrant lea
rning community. If there’s a class you’d like to see offered or you
’re an artist seeking a space to teach\, contact our coordinator at negr
ecia@rogers.com. We look forward to welcoming you.
