SUMMARY:Watercolour techniques and theory
LOCATION:Sammie Cafe\, 2205 33 Ave SW\, Calgary
DESCRIPTION:Personally\, I think watercolour is one of the most expressive
mediums out there. Its fluidity and transparency create images that feel s
oft yet dramatic all at once. Watercolour has the wonderful perk of portab
ility — you can easily slip your paints and paper into your bag or pocke
t and create whenever inspiration hits. I like to compare it to the differ
ence between playing a piano and playing a guitar. You can’t just take a
piano everywhere\, but a guitar can go wherever you do. Watercolour is th
at guitar — flexible\, personal\, and always ready for you. In this clas
 s\, we’ll create a detailed\, poster-sized chart that can be framed as a
piece of art or simply hung on the wall for painting reference. This proj
ect gives new artists the chance to explore both basic and intricate water
color techniques while making something beautiful. Mastering the right tec
hniques to capture the scene in front of you is half the journey\, and we
’re here to guide you through it. We’ll dive into unique abstract meth
ods that show you how to let the paper work its magic. In this class\, we
’ll focus on key watercolor skills like layering\, masking\, and blendin
g—fundamental techniques that form the backbone of watercolor painting.
While you craft\, enjoy delicious café bites\, curated cocktails\, and co
zy hot drinks to sip as you create. Snack boards can be purchased with you
r tickets and cocktails will be available all night. Art classes at Sammie
's offers a vibrant and enriching environment where individuals can explor
e their creativity\, develop new skills\, and express themselves through v
arious mediums. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist\, these
classes provide an opportunity to learn techniques in painting\, drawing\
, sculpture\, and multi re-usable mediums under the guidance of skilled in
structors. Additionally\, they foster a sense of community\, allowing peop
le to share ideas\, collaborate on projects\, and gain inspiration from th
eir peers. If you’re interested in a class that’s not listed or are an
artist seeking a place to teach\, reach out to our coordinator at negreci
a@rogers.com with any ideas\, comments\, or questions. Follow us on Instag
ram @TheGrowingStudios for more classes and the latest announcements. Look
forward to enjoying an evening with like minded art enthusiasts. Talking
and creating is an evening well spent.
